Mr. Mahesh Jadhav Founder of Mahesh Foundation received National award for Child Welfare in 2016
MAHESH FOUNDATION is an NGO working for “Enriching the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS”, by providing shelter to the orphans and inspiring other patients to fight the disease - through various initiatives.
Ten years ago, we were working hard to change the mindset of society towards HIV infected people but we know it will not happen in a day or in years but our effort will continue till people understand that HIV infected people also have the right to live as a normal human being. We are trying our best to support children who are HIV infected and also trying to make our society more aware of HIV/AIDS and its stigma.
Lack of sensitivity & awareness about HIV and AIDS leads to rejection from mainstream society. India registered 5.7 million cases in 2007. Karnataka state ranked 5th in India and Belgaum District scored 3rd in the state. Rehabilitation facilities for such children are not in proportion to the increasing number of registered cases.
